FOUNDATION STAGE

The Montessori system, much in use worldwide, is known as the best form of pre-school engagement of children. The first six years of life are those when a human being enjoys the fastest brain development. This happens spontaneously and unobtrusively under three conditions:

Basic genetic endowment
Least injunctive parents and
Presence of what is known as the Montessori environment, fully satisfying the requirement of the absorbent mind to learn concentration in the first phase, control and coordination in the second phase, and purposeful activity guided by the will in the third phase. By the time the child is five, he/ she has dramatically transformed into an intellectually, sensorially and muscularly developed and balanced human being.

PRIMARY & UPPER PRIMARY SCHOOL

The University of Cambridge International system for Primary and Upper Primary school education is appropriately blended with the curricula offered by the CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations) and in accordance with the guidelines of the NEP (National Education Policy) 2020.

Along with systematic development of linguistic, mathematical and experiential skills, the curriculum is designed to promote cross-curricular learning with no rigid demarcations between subjects, curricular and extra-curricular activities with emphasis on Technology, Art, Music and Sports.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by South City International School and Alliance Francaise du Bengale on 13 April, 2021 for the implementation and the initiation of the DELF courses and the examinations at South City International School, Kolkata.

DELF, a Diploma in the French Language is a certification of French-language abilities for non-native speakers of French is administrated by the International Center for French Studies (Centre international d’etudes pedagogiques or CIEP) for France’s Ministry of Education. The course at school would help the students in a successful career ahead.

The British Council in December 2018, agreed to impart English Language training and testing of courses offered by them at the premises of South City International School almost all seven days of the week irrespective of holidays and vacations.

CLASSES IX-XII

Both the ICSE and ISC curricula are offered by one of the best acclaimed national Boards. The ICSE and ISC prescribed curricula provide the best channel for the progression of children into higher studies in areas of their choice and aptitude.

Students are guided in their career choice by ICS (Institute of Career Studies) led by Dr Amrita Dass. ICS has an international presence and experience of over three decades in providing career guidance and counselling services and conducting training programmes in more than 200 leading schools as well as colleges and universities.

The institute has helped students to have an understanding of their aptitudes, interests and aspirations along with awareness of the emerging educational and career trends. Every year ICS conducts aptitude and psychometric tests for our students at two levels, in grades 8 and 11 followed by individual counselling sessions.

Learning at South City International School permeates all levels. Teachers are empowered by a continuous process of workshops and training programmes to upgrade their skills and keep updated with the latest updates in education. Currently, teachers are undergoing the process of certification for NISHTHA under the DIKSHA platform.

Training programmes by the British Council were also aimed at Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of the School. Training sessions and workshops covering topics like Core Teaching Skills; additional necessary or relevant teaching skills; Soft Skills and Work skills; Classroom Management; Managing Teachers or managing to teach; Subject knowledge; Child Protection; Course and Lesson Planning; Understanding Learners.

The British Council also hosted training for the Management Staff of School covering Essential Skills topics like D-I-Y Power Tools for Managers; The Communicator; Unlock your Creativity – Transformative Thinking Skills; Train the trainer.

COLLABORATION WITH THE BRITISH COUNCIL

In 2018, British Council and the South City International School (SCIS) had entered a partnership that allowed individuals from South Kolkata ease of access to British Council’s experienced English experts, to help people gain the skills, confidence, and connections to realise their potential and transform their lives.
To meet the rising demand for British Council’s English language classes, the two partners have introduced face-to-face English classes at SCIS, for adults, kids and teens.

The British Council's early years specialists have designed Learning Time with Timmy to be fun and engaging for your child. Timmy’s stories spark children’s imagination and keeps them engaged so that learning comes naturally. It boosts their self-confidence and helps them develop communication skills and good pronunciation, imparting language, personality and long term holistic development.
